Women Impacting Nigeria (WIN) reflects on the success of its recent AccelerateHer Outreach, held on 22 March 2025 in Bariga, Lagos. The event was organised to mark International Women’s Day 2025 and brought together 50 women entrepreneurs for business training, financial literacy education, and micro-grant support.
WIN Founder Adesuwa Imasekha shared the motivation behind the outreach. “Empowering women means equipping them with the tools, capital, and confidence to lead. Through AccelerateHer, we’re not just sparking business growth, we’re investing in women as architects of change in their families and communities,” she said.
The event theme, “AccelerateHer: Empowering Women Through Financial Inclusion & Business Growth,” focused on practical knowledge and strategies to help women navigate business challenges. Sessions were held on budgeting, digital finance, saving, investment, and business readiness. Women also explored ways to manage gender-specific barriers that hinder business development.
The outreach was conducted in partnership with the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, DevGlobal, Dev-Afrique, and GTCO. Each participant received ₦50,000 in micro-grants to support the growth of their businesses.
The workshops addressed the participants’ various sectors, offering step-by-step guidance on how to use grants effectively, source materials, and run successful ventures. The programme also included a networking lunch, providing participants with an opportunity to connect with mentors and build supportive relationships with peers.
The Micro-Grant Disbursement Ceremony was a key part of the event. Fifty women received ₦50,000 each to scale their businesses. These grants were funded through support from Dev-Afrique and DevGlobal. Both organisations share WIN’s aim of supporting grassroots development through local partnerships.
To ensure lasting support, WIN also launched a Post-Event Mentorship Programme. This programme will provide ongoing business services, monitor progress, and connect participants to wider entrepreneurial networks.
WIN thanked its partners—the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, DevGlobal, Dev-Afrique, and GTCO—for their role in making the programme a success.
WIN continues its efforts in May, stressing that women’s empowerment should not be limited to a single day but carried forward as an ongoing mission.
