Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Lamurde Local Government Area, effective immediately, in response to recent violent attacks and a breakdown of public order in parts of the region.

In a statement issued by Humwashi Wonosikou, his Chief Press Secretary, Governor Fintiri described the unrest as “unacceptable,” warning that the government will not tolerate any act of violence or attempts to destabilise the area.

“Government views these disturbances as unacceptable and has directed security agencies to enforce the curfew strictly,” the governor said. “Anyone or group of people found contravening this directive will be arrested and dealt with according to the law.”

The curfew, which took effect immediately, will remain in place until further notice. Security agencies have been deployed to enforce the order and restore normalcy in the affected communities.

Governor Fintiri urged residents of Lamurde to remain calm, comply with the curfew, and cooperate with security personnel.

He called on citizens to refrain from spreading rumours and instead provide credible information that could help prevent further violence.

“The government is committed to protecting lives and property and ensuring the safety of all citizens,” the governor said, reaffirming his administration’s resolve to maintain law and order across the state.
