Troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN in the early hours of Friday stormed a suspected bandits’ camp in Teng Village, Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State, neutralising one of the armed criminals and recovering weapons.
The Nigerian Army’s 3 Division operation, which was based on actionable intelligence, is part of ongoing efforts to rid the state of criminal elements threatening lives and property.
A statement by Samson Nantip Zhakom, Media Information Officer for Operation SAFE HAVEN, confirmed the successful raid.
According to the statement, troops engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle, overpowering them and forcing a hasty retreat.

One of the criminals was gunned down during the confrontation, and blood trails found along their escape routes suggest that several others may have sustained serious gunshot injuries.
Following the clash, soldiers combed the hideout and recovered one AK-47 rifle, a magazine, and 11 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition.
The military has taken custody of the seized arms, while search efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
The army commended the courage and professionalism of the troops involved in the operation, noting that personnel of 3 Division/Operation SAFE HAVEN remain resolute in dismantling criminal networks in the region.
“This operation is a testament to the troops’ commitment to restoring peace and security in Plateau State. Non-state actors and their activities must be curtailed by every possible means,” the statement read.
