Constant training of youths will help to curb unemployment, youth restiveness, crimes and other societal vices in the country, this is the reason the administration of Governor Hope Uzodinma is much interested in the development of the activities of artisans and youths in the state through job creation and skills development.
Rex Anunobi Sokom, Imo State commissioner for Trade, Commerce and Investment, disclosed this to the officials of the South East Zonal Office of the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) in Owerri, led by Chioma Uloaku Ogbonna, the director, during their courtesy visit on the commissioner.
Consequently, the commissioner has promised to partner with other sister ministries involved to see that ITF achieves success in Imo State.
Anunobi urged the delegation to have their State Zonal Offices in the three zones of Imo State to help people in rural areas reach them when needed. He said that the Industrial Training Fund has been at the fore front of actualizing the state and federal government agenda of empowering youths with employable skills and entrepreneurial opportunities.
Noting that one of the series of intervention programmes of the ITF towards youths’ empowerment and wealth creation is the Infotech Skill Empowerment Programme(ISEP), the commissioner said that having the ITF zonal office in Imo State was one of the achievements of Governor Uzodinma who he described as a silent achiever.
Chioma Ogbonna, director of ITF South East Zonal Office, Owerri, had earlier said they came to notify the commissioner of their presence in Imo State and to thank the governor for his people-oriented projects that have rekindled the hope of development in Imo, especially in the commerce and industrial sectors.
