Tizeti wins ISP of the year award

Tizeti has been recognized for its innovative practices, ranking sixth among African companies in Fast Companies' World's Most Innovative Companies for 2020.

Tizeti, a solar-powered internet service provider, has won the Internet Service Provider (ISP) of the Year award at the Beacon of ICT Awards (BoICT), which was held over the weekend by the Nigerian Communications Week.

The company was chosen for the award following a competitive review process and due to its innovative model of bridging the digital divide with solar-powered masts, delivering the most cost-effective and reliable unlimited internet services, and its contribution and commitment to broadband penetration and digital inclusion in West Africa.

Tizeti leverages the large wireless capacity available with Wi-fi and the plummeting cost of solar panels to create a low Capital expenditure and operating expenses network of owned and operated towers to offer disruptive, customer-friendly pricing for unlimited internet service right across Africa.

Ikenna Uche, Chief Technical Officer, Tizeti, accepted the award and expressed gratitude to the organizers for the honour as well as the company’s commitment to building the infrastructure for Africa’s digital economy.

“Despite approximately 40 percent broadband penetration in Nigeria, millions of Nigerians remain excluded from the global digital economy.

“In today’s world, having access to the opportunities that digital provides is a game-changer, and we must make internet access affordable and effective for the majority of homes and businesses,” he said.

Uche further states that the company is delighted that our solar-powered network of owned and operated telecoms base stations are bringing value to Nigerians,” he said.

Also, the company has launched unlimited broadband internet in several Nigerian and Ghanaian states, with plans to expand to ten more in the next eighteen months.

It provides services in Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Edo, and Rivers States in Nigeria, as well as Accra and Tema in Ghana

The brand is a rapidly expanding Wireless Internet service provider in Nigeria and Ghana that provides residential and business customers with high-speed, unlimited Wi-Fi Internet access via wide-area Wi-Fi.
