The Ogun state government has said it’s waste management circular economic programme – waste to use and waste recycling will be driven by the private-sector for optimum performance.
Dapo Abiodun, Ogun state governor stated this during the donation of 100 branded waste drums to the newly-established Ogun Waste Management Authority OGWAMA by DeTopNotch Service Limited as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility CSR in Mowe, Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of the state recently.
Represented by Ola Oresanya, special adviser on Environment and chief executive officer of OGWAMA, Governor Abiodun said the state government took the decision to make it’s waste management circular economic program a private sector driven so as to create employment opportunities for youth and women in the society.
He, therefore, called on the private sector in the state to make good use of the government initiative to invest in waste management, adding that as the custodian of the environment, the administration will make sure that the sector is well structured to support their investments for maximum expansion, and employment opportunities.
While appreciating DeTopNotch Resource Limited for the donation of the waste drums which will be deployed to make the state cleaner, Abiodun urge other private organisations in the waste management sector to emulate DeTopNotch by contributing their quota in the government efforts at making the Ogun one of the cleanest in the country.
Earlier, David Ayo-Odugbesan a barrister and the managing director of DeTopNotch Resources Limited, said the donation of the drums is parts of the company’s ways of giving back to society and called on residents of the state to support his administration’s efforts at making the state clean through its waste management initiative.
