The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has confirmed the rescue of a 27-year-old man who was trapped under the rubble of a collapsed three-storey building in the Lifecamp area of Abuja.
According to a statement issued by Josephine Adeh, the Command’s Spokesperson, the distress call was received at approximately 6:15 PM on Friday, prompting an immediate emergency response.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the Lifecamp Division swiftly mobilised personnel to the scene and cordoned off the area to facilitate rescue efforts.

The statement also noted that a coordinated operation involving officers of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) Development Control Department, and construction companies Zeberced and Julius Berger led to the rescue.
“Multi-agency patrol and enforcement teams were also deployed to bolster the response.
“After nearly 10 hours of intense rescue operations, the trapped victim, identified as Aliyu Salisu, a citizen of the Niger Republic, was successfully pulled from the debris around 4:00 AM on Saturday.
“He was immediately taken to Cedar Crest Hospital in Gudu for medical attention and is currently reported to be responding well to treatment”, the statement added.
Ajao Adewale, Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, who supervised the rescue efforts at the site, commended the professionalism and swift action of all emergency agencies involved.

He also extended appreciation to community members and security service commanders who supported the operation.
The Command urged residents to remain vigilant and proactive in reporting emergencies or suspicious activities.
