The Oyo State Government has approved fresh road projects which cut across the State worth over ₦113 billion, to boost infrastructure and socio-economic growth and development in the State.
The projects are expected to be new constructions and ongoing rehabilitations in different parts of the State, including the dualisation of the 13.6km Ojoo Interchange–IITA–Moniya Junction–Akinyele road.

Approved during the State Executive Council meeting held at the Governor’s Office, Secretariat in Ibadan, the projects included the asphaltic reconstruction of the Ojoo Interchange–IITA–Moniya Junction–Akinyele road at ₦63.6 billion.
Mojeed Mogbonjubola, Commissioner for Works and Public Transport, who briefed journalists, listed dualisation of the 6.2km Ajia Junction–Nigeria Air Force Base road at ₦17.1 billion; and the reconstruction of the 30km Okaka Junction–Otu–Igbojaye–KAP Film Village road with bridges over Otu and Ofiki rivers at ₦26.4 billion.
Others are thermoplastic road marking, kerbs painting and patching in Ibadan metropolis at ₦444.8 million; expansion of the Apete–Awotan–Akufo road to cover 12km plus 2.2km of rigid pavement at Akufo Farm Settlement at ₦1.9 billion; and the asphaltic construction of Isaba–Ogundoyin and Lanlate–Polytechnic roads in Eruwa at ₦4.1 billion.

The Executive Council also approved the planting of economic trees along the 32km Senator Rashidi Ladoja Circular Road (Phase 1) for ₦108 million.
While assuring that all the approved projects would be delivered within 12 to 18 months, the Commissioner stressed that they are part of Governor Seyi Makinde’s strategy to attract investment, multiply infrastructure, as well as attract socio-economic investment into the pacesetter State.
