Alex Otti, governor of Abia State, has called on Ndi Ngwa in the diaspora to deepen their partnership with his administration in driving a new era of development in the state.
Governor Otti made the call during the Ngwa Convention held at Hyatt Regency The Arch, St. Louis, Missouri, USA.
Governor Otti, who was represented by Caleb Ajagba, his chief of staff, urged the diaspora community to see themselves as key partners in transforming Abia into a hub of prosperity.
He stressed that their expertise, resources, and commitment to their roots are critical in sustaining ongoing reforms.
He highlighted the visible strides his administration has made in infrastructure, healthcare, education, security, and industrialization over the past 27 months.
Otti hinted that more than 350 roads had been constructed or rehabilitated, salaries and pensions paid promptly every month.
He also disclosed that Abia has emerged as one of the safest states in Nigeria with the launch of Operation Crush and other security measures.
He thanked the diaspora for their consistent support in health, education, and community development and for not neglecting the home in their comfort zone.
“Even in the midst of your high accomplishments and comfort abroad, you have continued to care for your homeland. This is the eternal Igbo spirit of onye aghala nwanne ya,” Otti said.
He emphasized that all the reforms being embarked by his administration are not just economic but a restoration of dignity and confidence among Abians.
“Our overarching agenda in the medium to long run is to make Abia the number one destination for productive talent and investments.
The state currently records the highest per capita spending on capital projects in Nigeria,”Otti stated.
He called on Ndi Ngwa in diaspora to collaborate in areas such as healthcare, education, industry, technology, culture, and youth development, stressing that although much has been given already, the future demands even more.
The Ngwa Convention, which drew participants from across the United States and beyond, provided a platform for dialogue, networking, and renewed commitment towards the development of Abia and the upliftment of the Ngwa community.
