Oborevwori, Ned back Igbo Socio-Cultural Group on fight against identity crisis among indigenous people

…Urges others to emulate group

The movement commenced by Ndi Nasu Bia Social Cultural Organization to fight identity crisis among the indigenous people of Igbo, has received commendation from Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State and Ned Nwoko who represents Delta North Senatorial District in the National Assembly.

Speaking on Friday while declaring open a two-day conference organized by the Igbo Unification Movement in collaboration with Ndi Nasu Bia Social Cultural Organization, Oborevwori described the move as a gesture worthy of emulstion by others.

Oborevwori.who was represented by Johnson Erijo, the Chief of Staff Government House Asaba, expressed shock that there are 13 states in the country as revealed by the group. We.never knew13 states speak Igbo in this country uptill now, hence the unification movement is commendable. he said.

He disclosed that the state government on its part run an all-inclusuve government devoid of marginalizing any section of the state.

Ned Nwoko expressed hope that every other group in the state would emulate same, even as he wondered why Igbo speaking people are always separted.

He disclosd that his belief in Igbo unity is the reason he is pushing for the creation of Anioma State and called on the people to give their support not minding whether the new state would be in the South-South or South-East.

Cosmas Agada, chairman, Local Organuzing Committee ( LOC) and patron of Ndi Nasu Bia Socio Cultural Organization,.described the group as an Igbo nationalism organization duly incorporated in Nigeria with the Corporate Affairs in 2020

He said that the group membership is drawn from all Igbo subgroups and communities across three geopolitcal zones of North-Central, South-East and South-South and spread across diaspora Igbo Comnunities in America, Asia, Europe, the Caribean etc.

”Inspired by the Igbo philosophy of Onye aghala nwanne ya, we identify indigeneous Igbo Communites engaging the elders and youths with the objective of helping them to resolve their identity crisis, thereby helping them to fully realize their true Igbo identity. In some cases, we carry out minor infrastructural projects in the communities.

“We aim to to build Igbo philosophy of Igwebuike, as we believe the sociocultural, economic and political advancement of Ndigbo lies critically in our unity irrespective of our unity dialectical variations. Ndigbo are one people, he said.

More speakers at the occasion threw their weight behind the group and the movement.

Earlier in his welcome address, Kingsley Kainebi, President, Ndi Na Asu Bia Socio-Cultural Organization, appreciated the LOC whose dedication has brought this vision to life.

As we engage in today“s discussion, I urge us to take to heart key recommendations of this conference in order to achieve its set of goal – that Igbo people should stand together as one united ethnic group, speaking with one voice.
The highlight of the occasion included lectures presented on Igbo unity, by renowned Igbo scholars including Timothy Nwala, emeritus professor amongst others. There was also the unveiling of Ndi Nasu Bia Television.
