Leroy Egega, Chief Executive Officer of Leben Travels and Tours, has received the Nelson Mandela Leadership Award of Excellence and Integrity from the West African Youth Council (WAYC). The award ceremony, held recently, recognised Leroy’s efforts in youth empowerment and ethical leadership in West Africa’s travel and tourism sector.
During the event, Leroy was also named a West African Youth Ambassador and West African Youth Role Model. In his remarks, he said, “This recognition means a lot to me. It is a reminder that integrity and service can truly make a difference.” He spoke while holding the framed plaque presented by the Council.
Leben Travels and Tours, under Leroy’s leadership, facilitates educational and cultural exchange programmes, particularly study placements for young people across West Africa. The firm focuses on international education access, especially in the United Kingdom, Europe, and Asia.
The West African Youth Council stated that the award is given to individuals who embody “excellence, integrity, and dedication to community development.” The Council cited Egega’s contributions as reflecting the values upheld by Nelson Mandela—service, courage, and social impact.
Outside his business work, Leroy has supported projects aimed at youth entrepreneurship and cross-border mobility. His work has expanded access for young people to international opportunities and created platforms for global exposure and skill development.
Leroy dedicated the award to his team at Leben Travels and to “young Africans striving to make a difference.” He said the recognition would further motivate him to continue creating pathways for the next generation of leaders.
