Kwara govt partners Nigerian Army on youth empowerment

In an initiative aimed at tackling youth unemployment and fostering national development, the Kwara State Government has announced a strategic partnership with the Nigerian Army as part of efforts to empower voluntary youth organisations through training, job creation and skills development programmes.

Ndanusa Usman Shehu, Commissioner for Youths Development, stated this during a courtesy visit to the Nigerian Army, 22 Armoured Brigade, Sobi Barrack in Ilorin, the Kwara State Capital.

The Commissioner explained that the collaboration would provide young people with opportunities to acquire skills in security, technology, agriculture and leadership.

He expressed appreciation to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for providing an enabling environment that supports youth development in the State, stressing the governor’s commitment to policies and initiatives aimed at empowering young people.

“Governor Abdulrazaq has continuously demonstrated his dedication to youths development, creating opportunities that foster growth and innovation,” he stated.

Ndanusa noted that the initiative was expected to equip youths with the discipline and expertise needed to secure meaningful employment and contribute to national security efforts.

“This partnership will open doors for thousands of young Nigerians who are eager to serve their country and build a brighter future. Through skills acquisition, military-backed vocational training, and job placement initiatives, we aim to create sustainable employment pathways,” he added.

Funmilola Ajide, the Director of Personnel, Finance and Supply of the Ministry, posited that the youths are the future of the nation and need proper monitoring, tutoring and training to thrive successfully in the society.

Ezra Barkins, Brigadier General and Commander of Sobi Barracks, expressed gratitude to the State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for creating an enabling environment that fostered their growth, efficiency, and operational success.

He welcomed the initiative, highlighting the Military’s role in shaping disciplined and responsible citizens.

“This strategic alliance between the Kwara State Government and the Nigerian Army, is a beacon of hope for young people aspiring to serve and build rewarding careers in the military, reinforcing the government’s dedication to youths development and national service.The army is fully prepared to work alongside the Ministry to achieve our shared goals,” he stated.
