The governorship election in Kogi State that started peacefully Saturday in most parts is gradually turning violent, as some officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission were kidnapped, and people in police uniform shoot at a polling unit.

The INEC Election officials were kidnapped at the SUBEB polling unit.

At the same polling unit thugs snatched ballot boxes throwing the polling centre into commotion as voters scampered for safety.

The disruption of voting at the polling station has affected the conduct of the elections there.

At the Crowther Memorial Secondary School in Lokoja, six Hilux vans filled with people in police uniform drove into the centre and started shooting into the air, forcing voters to scamper for their lives.
Business Day gathered that Crowther is PDP’s catchment area and APC wants to get vote there by all means. It was not clear whether they carried away the ballot boxes. No casualty has been reported.
Shortly helicopter starts moving around Crowther, and the whole street look deserted now.

At Ward one,  unit  004, Iluafon, Aiyetoro Gbede, Ijumu LGA,  Ballot Boxes were snatch away by political thugs around 11:00noon

The contention is mainly between the ruling All Progressives Congress to which belongs the state governor, and PDP.
