Kebbi governor, trade minister to headline youth policy conference in Abuja

The ‘Policy Conference for Youth’, a gathering that seeks to involve young Nigerians in national policy will take the stage in Abuja on Tuesday, August 12.

The event, themed “Rethinking National Unity: Governance Reforms for Strengthening Social Cohesion in Nigeria,” will see Nasir Idris, Kebbi state governor, , chair proceedings at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre.

Convened by Ayokunnu Ojeniyi, founder of the Future Pathways Development Initiative (FPDI), the event is designed to inspire young people to craft evidence-based solutions to some of Nigeria’s most pressing governance challenges.

Jumoke Oduwole, minister of industry, trade and investment, will serve as Special Guest of Honour, while Dapo Oyewole, special adviser to the President on International Cooperation, is also billed to attend. The forum will draw a diverse audience of civil society actors, private sector representatives, and development advocates.

It will also mark the grand finale of the FPDI Policy Challenge Award, a contest that has, engaged up to 800 young Nigerians from all six geopolitical zones this year. Participants have been tasked with reimagining governance and unity through youth-inclusive approaches.

Outstanding entrants will be rewarded with cash prizes and internships, giving them both recognition and an opportunity to translate their proposals into practice.
