Mayor Kingsley Okoronkwo (MKO), the director general of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Support Coalition Movement 2027 (BATSCM), has applauded President Bola Tinubu for what he described as a bold and visionary step towards improving national security through the establishment of a new Forest Guards system.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Okoronkwo commended Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the country’s territorial integrity, saying the initiative reflects a proactive and people-oriented approach to addressing insecurity.
According to him, the planned deployment of Forest Guards is not only a strategic move to combat rising threats in Nigeria’s forests and border areas, but also a viable avenue for job creation and youth empowerment.
“This initiative is a testament to President Tinubu’s dedication to securing the lives and properties of Nigerians.
“It also offers a golden opportunity to engage our teeming youth population in meaningful and patriotic service”, the statement read.
Okoronkwo emphasized that the policy, if properly implemented, could help build trust between communities and security agencies by fostering local participation in intelligence gathering and crime prevention.
He called on governors, traditional rulers, and all relevant stakeholders to throw their weight behind the President’s efforts, stressing that a coordinated approach was crucial to the success of the Forest Guards programme.
“With the combined efforts of government at all levels and the active involvement of communities, we can achieve a safer and more prosperous Nigeria,” he added.
The BATSCM DG reiterated the group’s continued support for the President’s security and development agenda, expressing optimism that the administration’s initiatives would set the foundation for long-term peace and stability in the country.
