Kayode Egbetokun, Inspector General of Police (IGP), has approved an extension of the grace period for the enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit requirement until August 12, 2025.
The extension, announced in a statement issued by Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, follows public concerns surrounding the reactivation of the digital application process for obtaining the permit.
According to the statement, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) is responding to citizen feedback and remains committed to a transparent, inclusive, and citizen-friendly policing system.
“The extension is part of a broader effort to ensure that the digital permit process is accessible, secure, and user-friendly for all Nigerians.
“This move reflects the IGP’s resolve to listen to the voices of Nigerians and to ensure that no citizen is unfairly affected by the ongoing reforms. “The period will also be used to further enhance and fine-tune the application process”, the statement noted.
The Police further disclosed that efforts are ongoing to simplify both physical and contactless application options.
Improvements include enhanced verification mechanisms and streamlined procedures to reduce processing delays and eliminate unnecessary bottlenecks.
Members of the public were reminded that the only authorised platform for the application and renewal of the Tinted Glass Permit is www.possap.gov.ng.
The Police also urged citizens to report any incidents of extortion or unauthorised charges encountered during the application or biometric capturing process.
“Such complaints can be lodged through the dedicated hotline: 09169967000”, it added.
The NPF reiterated its commitment to public safety, digital innovation, and the continuous improvement of service delivery, while expressing appreciation for the patience and cooperation of the Nigerian public as it implements the necessary reforms.
