Gunmen launched an attack on the family residence of Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the suspended senator representing Kogi Central in the National Assembly, in Obeiba-Ihima, located in Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The incident occurred around 1 a.m. on Tuesday, when at least three armed individuals, carrying firearms and cutlasses, stormed the premises and vandalised property, including smashing windows.

Security personnel from Okehi responded to a distress call and arrived at the scene, though no arrests have been made. Authorities have begun preliminary investigations into the incident.

Akpoti-Uduaghan confirmed the attack, suggesting the assailants may have targeted the house under the assumption that she was present, following recent visits by her younger brother and contractors to inspect project sites in the area.

She stated that officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, alongside community members, repelled the attackers. No injuries were reported.

“Two days ago, my younger brother took some contractors to my hometown in Ihima. They inspected locations of the next series of projects I attracted to my senatorial district,” she said.

“The unknown gunmen assumed I was the one in town and that night, attacked my family house. They were chased off by the civil defence team and community members who trouped out en mass,” The Cable quoted Akpoti-Uduaghan.
