Charlize Theron returns as Andy in The Old Guard 2, continuing the story of immortal warriors trying to protect humanity. With Booker (Matthias Schoenaerts) still exiled after his betrayal, and Quynh (Veronica Ngô) back after escaping her underwater prison, the group faces internal and external threats. Nile (KiKi Layne), Joe (Marwan Kenzari), Nicky (Luca Marinelli), and James Copley (Chiwetel Ejiofor) work alongside a character named Tuah (Henry Golding), an old ally who may hold the key to the origins of their immortality. Directed by Victoria Mahoney and based on the world created by Greg Rucka and Leandro Fernandez, the sequel also features Uma Thurman in a supporting role.

The plot follows their struggle to survive, and their search for answers grows more urgent as the situation intensifies. The film blends mystery and science fiction, focusing on teamwork, isolation, and the human instinct to break free.

‘Madea’s Destination Wedding’ – Released July 11

Tyler Perry’s Madea returns in Madea’s Destination Wedding, this time heading to the Bahamas. Brian and his ex-wife Debrah are caught off guard when their daughter, Tiffany, announces she is getting married in two weeks. Her fiancé is a rapper she recently met on a yacht. Madea and her crew accompany the family to the island for the rushed celebration, where familiar clashes and moments of reconciliation take place. The film continues the Madea franchise’s focus on family dynamics and intergenerational conflict, with comedy layered into serious conversations.

Happy Gilmore 2 – Released July 25

Adam Sandler reprises his role as Happy Gilmore in Happy Gilmore 2, returning nearly three decades after the original. In this sequel, Happy is back on the golf course, trying to support his daughter’s dream of becoming a ballet dancer. Much of the original cast reappears, including Christopher McDonald as Shooter McGavin and Ben Stiller as Hal L., the retirement home orderly. New additions such as Bad Bunny and Benny Safdie join the cast. Directed by Kyle Newacheck, the film draws on the first movie’s legacy, combining physical humour with a storyline about growth, ageing, and family responsibility.
