Firms move to promote inclusive access to education in Oyo

As part of efforts to promote inclusive access to education, OPay Digital Services has partnered with Brace-UpThe Young Foundation to make a significant impact through its back-to-school project.

The outreach phase 1, which held at Government College Ibadan (GCI) in Ibadan, Oyo State recently and to be continued in September 2025 with phase 2, is aimed at supporting over 650 students from various secondary schools across Oyo by providing educational materials to pupils.

Speaking at the event, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Manager, Itoro Udo emphasied the importance of investing in children for the long-term benefit of society.

“At OPay, we believe that real impact begins with the child. When we equip students with the tools they need, we are not just providing school bags or books; we are opening doors to possibilities.

“Initiatives like this are crucial for ensuring a secure future for our youth. By investing in the lives of children, we help them excel academically and prepare for tomorrow,” Udo said.

The Oyo State Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Olusegun Olayiwola, represented by S.O. Oladokun, in a goodwill message, commended the foundation’s consistent efforts toward educational development.

“This initiative is a welcome development. It aligns with the ministry’s goal of ensuring that every child has access to education across the state,” he noted.

Speaking earlier, Founder, Brace-Up The Young Foundation, Obasanjo Fajemirokun,

reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to supporting young learners in underserved communities.

Fajemirokun, however expressed gratitude to OPay for their partnership. Adding that the foundation would continue working in communities to positively impact lives.

“Education is a powerful tool for transformation. Our mission is to level the playing field for children who might otherwise be left behind,” he stated.

“As a foundation, we will continue our work in communities to positively impact lives. Phase 2 of the project will take place in September 2025,” he revealed.

He expressed gratitude to OPay for supporting this initiative. It’s an honour to assist students in preparing for the forthcoming new academic session.

The programme featured various cultural displays, spoken word presentations, and Ewi performances, all contributing to a vibrant and engaging atmosphere.

Students from Government College, Ibadan, Queens School, Ibadan, IMG, High School, Apata, Apata Community Grammar School,

African Church Grammar School, Apata, and Adifase High School, Apata, beneficiaries of the project expressed deep gratitude, with many noting that the school supplies would inspire them to return to school with renewed enthusiasm.
