The Health Services and Environment Secretariat (HSES) of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, has tapped into private partnership to grow telemedicine in its drive to strengthen healthcare delivery in Abuja.
Adedolapo Fawase, Mandate Secretary, Health Services and Environment (FCT, Abuja), stated that telemedicine would enhance doctor–patient relationships, uphold confidentiality, and reduce the risks of patronising quacks while also helping to prevent avoidable deaths.
Fawase made this known during a recent Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing with Mobihealth, a telemedicine StartUp, aimed at bridging the doctor-patient healthcare delivery in the FCT.
According to her, the initiative sealed the beginning of a mutual working relationship that started a year ago, which is dedicated to the betterment of the people on both sides.
She noted that it reflects the vision of Renewed Hope interventions in healthcare delivery, which ensures accessible, affordable, and quality medical services for residents, especially at the grassroots.
Fawase also commended the resilience and commitment of Mobihealth in aligning with the Secretariat’s mission to deliver efficient, reliable, and people-centered healthcare services to the people of Abuja.
The MoU was signed by Ruqayya Wamakko, Executive Secretary of the FCT Primary Health Care Board and Ronke Akande on behalf of the Government, while Funmi Adewara signed for Mobihealth.
Funmi Adewara, Founder, Mobihealth, stated that the initiative would bring relief to patients, sustain the momentum and ensure residents enjoy quality healthcare in the comfort of their homes.
She expressed appreciation to the Mandate Secretary, the Permanent Secretary, and the entire management team for embracing innovation and investing in the future of an evolving medical world.
