ENDSARS protest in Surulere turned bloody after officers of the Nigerian police reportedly opened fire. Man in the middle is alleged to have started the shooting

Armed policemen are arresting and shooting at protesters in Surulere barely hours after President Muhammadu Buhari spoke about the disbanding of SARS and planned police reform.

Videos and pictures posted by several eyewitnesses within the location show young men and women being dragged on the floor by police officers carrying guns. A man sustained a gunshot injury and was bleeding from the stomach. The protesters were unarmed.

In some of the videos, the alleged police officers are not wearing uniforms, one of the many characteristics of the dreaded rogue police known as SARS.

“The people shooting at us I don’t know which is the police which is criminal which is SARS, just anyhow,” an eyewitness said.
