Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu says those arrested in connection with the #EndSARS protests have been released by the police

Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu says those arrested in connection with the #EndSARS protests that continue to rock the state have been released by the police.

Several of the #EndSARS protesters which turned bloody in Lagos on Monday, October 12, with one policeman and two protesters shot dead, have been arrested and being detained in various police cells across Lagos.

One of the demands of the #EndSARS protesters is that those arrested by the police be released unconditionally.

Speaking to this demand via his verified twitter handle, @jidesanwoolu, the governor said he was meeting with Hakeem Odumosu, the Commissioner of Police (CP) in charge of the Lagos command, to discuss the release of the arrested protesters.

“Iam meeting with the Lagos CP. Protesters will be released and broader issues will be addressed in my meeting with the President tomorrow (today). Let us take a break from protests (today) and give us a chance to take tangible next steps.”

Sanwo-Olu further said “I gave a directive to the CP to effect the release of the arrested protesters and they have all been released. Every citizen has a right to protest peacefully.

“No one will be violated for engaging in a peaceful protest”
