Delta state governor and chairman of the South-south Governors’ Forum, Ifeanyi Okowa, on Wednesday, decried the negative impact of the coronavirus on earlier plans by the six states in geo-political zones to further strengthen their economic ties, leveraging the braced commission.
Okowa, who addressed journalists at Government House, Asaba, said that Covid-19 slowed down the plan to revive Bayelsa- RiversAkwa Ibom-cross River-edo-delta (BRACED) Development Commission as earlier planned by the governors of the region.
Okowa also admitted that the coronavirus pandemic, flooding, ENDSARS protest, and now yellow fever, combined to slow down governance in Delta State, but added that in spite of these, his administration was able this year, to complete some key projects.

The governor said his commissioner of works, James Aguoye would soon make public the list of road projects executed, some of which would be commissioned in the coming days.
The governor said apart from road projects, his administration has also made significant progress in the area of empowering youths with skills and entrepreneurship, to reduce the high unemployment level in the state.
