Bomb explosion kills two, injure 4 in Borno

At least two people were killed and four were injured after a bomb exploded in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.

It was learnt that the incident occurred on Sunday evening at Kofa Biu near Ajari village in Konduga local government area of the state.

According to community leader who confirmed the incident said the bombs were brought to the village by some children six in number, who took them as metal scraps, probably unaware that they were explosives.

“The boys were headed to Ajari, a village in the LGA, when they went off and instantly we lost two children.

“They brought the object that exploded at the spot while four of them are currently receiving treatment at General Hospital Konduga Lokal Government,” the source said.

Earlier, the Borno State Police Command has earlier recovered an unexploded ordnance (UXO) in a farmland in Dikwa Local Government Area.

ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso spokesman of the command said the recovery was recorded after a farmer Babagana Kachalla reported a suspicious object on his land.

With the directive of the Police Commissioner Naziru Abdulmajid who deployed the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team, the object was identified as a 2.2-meter-long Cluster Bomb Unit (CBU).
