The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa State has reaffirmed its commitment to consolidating grassroots support and internal unity as part of broader preparations for the 2027 general elections.

This follows the successful conduct of Local Government Congresses across all 21 local government areas of the state, where most party executives emerged through consensus arrangements.

Party leaders described the exercise as a strategic move aimed at fostering internal cohesion and positioning the PDP as a formidable political force ahead of future electoral contests.

Chairman of the PDP Local Government Congress Committee in Adamawa State, David Iorhemba, commended party members for their peaceful and mature conduct during the congresses, which he monitored in Yola North, Yola South, and Girei local government areas.

Iorhemba, a former Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, noted that the adoption of consensus candidates reflected the party’s growing democratic maturity and commitment to unity. He also praised Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for providing the kind of focused leadership that has enhanced the party’s structure and visibility across the state.

“Governor Fintiri’s leadership has been instrumental in stabilizing the party and expanding its grassroots reach,” he said.

Also speaking, PDP stakeholders, including members of the State House of Assembly and the Girei Local Government Congress Committee Chairman, Adamu Abubakar Commissioner Works and Energy described the congresses as smooth, transparent, and well-organized. They noted that the outcomes have left the party better positioned and more united to retain and reclaim political leadership in 2027.

The PDP Appeal Committee is expected to commence sittings on Sunday to consider any petitions that may arise from the congresses. However, party officials expressed optimism that the peaceful and consensus-driven nature of the process would likely result in minimal disputes.

Attention now turns to the forthcoming State Congress with party leaders expressing confidence that it will mirror the transparency and inclusivity observed at the ward and local government levels.

With the successful conclusion of its ward and local government congresses, the PDP in Adamawa State has taken a significant step toward reinforcing its grassroots structures and presenting a united front as it prepares for the 2027 elections.
