Adamawa state Government has launched a $525,000 World Banks intervention programme to farmers across the State.
Speaking at the event, Kaletapwa Farauta, Professor and Deputy Governor of Adamawa State, said the project was designed to reduce the vulnerability in communities and build resilience against the hardship realities faced against the backdrop of increasing adverse effect of climate change
While representing Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintri, Farauta stated that the support has the potentials to establish a continued cycle of business activities that woud ultimately create an economic safety net for communities and the State.
She reiterated Government support to the World Bank projects through ACReSAL to achieve results by close monitoring, evaluation and controlling its processes.
She however, urged Federal Government to desilting the river Benue to boost international water travels, irrigation and other economic activities.
Earlier, Aliyu Abdullahi, Minister of State for Agriculture and Food security, said that the Federal Government would be partnering Government of Adamawa State through ACReSAL to improve food security in the State.
Abdullahi explained that the projects covers 774 LGAs, where each Council would benefit based on its comperarive and competitive advantages.
He noted that farmers would be supported with high yield crops for productivity, which reduces cost of production by using modern technology and ensure food produced is in line with nutritional contents desired.
Ibrahim China, ACReSAL State Coordinator, said the initiative would ensure sustainability in natural resources management.
According to him the initiative focused towards addressing future community climate change and deforestation.
Raji Isa, a beneficiary from Saminaka Co-operative Society, appreciateed the gesture towards improving their livelihood in the State.
