The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has reaffirmed its commitment to combating corruption and enhancing service efficiency through digital innovations.
Speaking at the launch of the Third Nationwide Sensitisation and Awareness Campaign Against Corruption 2025, Kemi Nandap, Comptroller General of Immigration, announced that the Agency’s new e-Visa channel and Contactless Passport Application System would significantly reduce bureaucratic bottlenecks and curb corrupt practices.
She emphasised that by leveraging technology, the NIS aims to streamline immigration processes, improve transparency, and deliver faster, more accountable services to Nigerians and foreign applicants alike.
With the theme “Increased Digitalization and Consolidated Innovations for Efficient and Transparent Services”, the NIS’ initiative underscores the Agency’s commitment to leveraging technology to enhance service delivery while minimizing opportunities for corruption.
Nandap, reaffirmed the Service’s dedication to adopting innovative digital solutions that promote efficiency and transparency.
She announced the impending introduction of an e-Visa channel, which is expected to further streamline immigration processes and ensure greater accountability.

In a bid to strengthen internal control mechanisms, the Comptroller General emphasised NIS’ strategic partnerships with key anti-corruption Agencies, including SERVICOM, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
These collaborations, she noted, are aimed at reinforcing ethical standards and ensuring public trust in the immigration system.
Speaking on the significance of the campaign, Zahrah Audu, Director General of the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC), stressed that corruption remains a major obstacle to economic growth and ease of doing business in Nigeria.
She described the initiative as a crucial step in fostering a service-driven immigration system that supports national development and attracts investment.
Nnena Akajemeli, the National Coordinator and Chief Executive of SERVICOM, commended NIS for its ongoing efforts to prioritise transparency and efficiency.
Representing the Director General of ICPC, Demola Bakare, this Commission’s Spokesman, praised the Service’s proactive measures and reiterated his Agency’s commitment to supporting the immigration sector in delivering fair and customer-friendly services that uphold integrity and professionalism.
BusinessDay reports that the event was attended by Representatives from various Security and Law Enforcement Agencies, including Department of State Services, Nigerian Correctional Service, National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, Nigeria Customs Service, National Intelligence Agency, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and Nigeria Police Force.
