The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Ebonyi State Command, has secured the conviction of seven individuals for various drug-related offences within the state.
Okechukwu Nkere, the State Commander of the agency, disclosed this in Abakaliki on Thursday, during an event marking the 2025 United Nations International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

Nkere revealed that between January and June 2025, the command arrested 212 suspects, comprising 169 males and 43 females and seized 91.768 kilograms of cannabis sativa and other psychotropic substances.
He further stated that eleven persons currently battling drug addiction are undergoing treatment and rehabilitation under the care of the command.

The NDLEA commander urged members of the public to resist the temptation to indulge in the abuse of licit and illicit substances, warning that drug misuse continues to pose a serious threat to societal well-being.
