The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has accredited and re -accredited 47 programmes, including some backlogged applications dating back to 2009, at Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja.
Salisu Ogbo, rector of the institution, made this announcement during a Stewardship Forum organised by members of the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Kogi State Chapter, on Monday.
He noted the establishment and accreditation of the School of Agricultural Technology at Itakpe, which offers four programmes: Agricultural Technology, Animal Health and Production Technology, Agricultural and Bio -Environmental Technology, and Horticulture and Landscape Technology.
Others are: Constitution of Academic Board Central Results Verification Committee, leading to proper scrutiny of results, cost effectiveness, and reduction in time wastage at the Academic Board meetings; Introduction of Computer -Based Test (CBT) for the conduct of the General Studies and other examinations with large classes, which has curbed unethical practices and ensured prompt release of results.
He equally pointed out that to avoid fake results, they have also provided a new statement of result template with additional security features against falsification and also e-results computation and display of semester results online for students.
It also includes: furnishing and provision of adequate up-to-date textbooks, journals and e-library components at the polytechnic library, establishment and successful resource inspection of Mass Communication, Clothing and Textile Technology and Printing Technology programmes at OND level.
The institution has also signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) for collaboration, smooth take off and accreditation of the Department of Mechatronics Engineering Technology at the School of Engineering, Itakpe.
Also, academic linkage and affiliation with the Federal University Lokoja for top–up degree and regular undergraduate programmes leading to the award of first degree in various disciplines. This also includes staff, students, facilities, sharing and exchange programmes.
“So with information and the grace of God we were able to eliminate cultism activities from the school. Whatever is the decision the students must carry along,” he said.
