The Nigerian Navy has announced the commencement of applications for its Basic Training School (BTS) Batch 38 recruitment exercise, which will run from October 2 to October 31, 2025.
In a statement, the Navy emphasised that the application process is free of charge and must be completed online via the official recruitment portal, www.joinnigeriannavy.navy.mil.ng.
The statement noted that successful candidates will undergo basic military training before being formally enlisted into service as Ordinary Seamen.
According to the guidelines, only Nigerian citizens by birth are eligible to apply, and all applicants must possess a valid National Identification Number (NIN). The Navy warned that candidates with criminal records or affiliations with secret societies, cults, or fraternities would not be considered.
The Navy outlined specific educational and age requirements for different categories of applicants, which include candidates applying with O-level certificates who must be between 18 and 22 years old as of December 31, 2025.
“Those holding OND or NCE qualifications must fall within the 18 to 26 age bracket, while Chaplain/Imam Assistants and Drivers/Mechanics must be aged 18 to 28”, it said.
It noted that all applicants are required to have at least five credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in not more than two sittings in WAEC, NECO, GCE, or NABTEB, with certificates not older than 2015.
It further disclosed that for professional roles such as Medical Assistants and Nurses, proof of registration with the relevant professional bodies is mandatory.
Similarly, applicants in technical trades like tailoring, plumbing, carpentry, welding, and electrical work must present valid Trade Test certificates in addition to their academic qualifications. Candidates applying as sportsmen or women are expected to provide evidence of their achievements, including medals and certificates.
“The recruitment examination, it said, has been scheduled for November 29, 2025, at designated centres across the country.
“Applicants are expected to appear with their Attestation Forms, duly signed and bearing the passport photograph of the signer, as well as a valid form of identification such as a Driver’s License, International Passport, or National ID Card”, the Navy stated.
The Navy cautioned against multiple applications, warning that such actions would lead to automatic disqualification.
Candidates were further advised to channel all inquiries through the official communication channels provided on the recruitment portal.
