Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has reaffirmed her commitment to visiting Kogi Central for the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, despite security measures imposed by the Kogi State government in response to recent violence.
In a statement issued by her media aide, Israel Arogbonlo, on Tuesday morning, the senator dismissed speculation about the cancellation of her visit, stating, “Despite rumours circulating online, there has been no official announcement from our office regarding the cancellation of this visit.”
Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central in the Senate, emphasised her dedication to engaging with her constituents. “Her dedication to the people of Kogi Central is unwavering, and she looks forward to celebrating Eid-el-Fitr with her constituents,” the statement read.
The clarification comes amid heightened security concerns in the state following the killing of two people in the state.

The incident, reportedly linked to fishing activities, has raised tensions in surrounding communities.
In response, the Kogi State government announced a ban on rallies and the use of security convoys, among other measures, to prevent further unrest.
Commissioner for Information and Communication, Kingsley Fanwo, said in a statement, “The Kogi State Government remains unwavering in its commitment to protecting the lives and property of all residents and ensuring that the state remains a haven of peace and security.”
Fanwo added that the government was acting on “credible intelligence reports” to forestall any breach of security.
Despite these restrictions, Akpoti-Uduaghan’s team assured constituents that all arrangements for the Sallah visit remain in place.
“We invite all members of the community to join us in marking this special occasion,” the senator’s statement added.
