Nigerian singer and serial entrepreneur Mr Eazi is set to host the seventh edition of Detty Rave on December 27, 2025, in Accra, marking another step in his efforts to strengthen Ghana’s live events sector. The annual music festival, which he founded, has grown into a regular feature that draws crowds and supports local economies during the year-end period.
Since its start in 2018, Detty Rave has played a role in expanding Ghana’s event offerings, particularly within the “Detty December” cycle. This period sees increased tourism, with visitors from West Africa, Europe, and the African diaspora attending events that boost spending in hospitality, transport, and retail. Industry analysts note that Detty Rave has become one of the more visible draws in this cycle, helping to position Accra as a hub for music and cultural gatherings.
Mr Eazi, born Oluwatosin Ajibade, has used the festival to extend his work beyond music. He has invested in events, technology, and creative projects, viewing Detty Rave as both a cultural platform and a business tool. The event aligns with his broader portfolio, which includes recent ventures like a BET nomination and partnerships in entertainment.
This year’s Detty Rave, themed “Raise the Heat,” will take place at Untamed Empire. The lineup includes DJ Spinall, Nooriyah, Ciza, DJ Aroma, and Chichi DJ, with Choplife Soundsystem as host. The programming covers genres such as Afrobeats, Amapiano, Afrohouse, Highlife, and Dancehall, following the multi-genre approach that has kept audiences returning.
The festival also directs resources to Ghana’s creative sectors. It involves local vendors, production teams, and artists in its operations. For the 2025 edition, creative direction comes from Dennis Osadebe Studio, and installations are by Nigerian sculptor Dotun Popoola. These elements highlight how Detty Rave integrates regional talent into its setup.
In a recent podcast with his wife, Temi Otedola, Mr Eazi stated that he started the Detty December trend in Ghana before it spread to Lagos and other parts of Nigeria. This claim underscores his view of the festival as an originator in the regional scene.
“Detty Rave is about bringing people together around music, culture, and the energy of Accra in December,” Mr Eazi said in a statement.
As Ghana’s event landscape continues to develop, Detty Rave stands as an example of how targeted investments can create lasting impact. The festival not only fills venues but also supports jobs and promotes cross-border collaboration in the arts. With its seventh year approaching, it remains a key part of Mr Eazi’s strategy to advance Africa’s entertainment industry.
