Morayo Afolabi-Brown has announced the launch of The Morayo Show and a new broadcast studio, marking a major shift in her career after more than two decades in Nigerian television.
Speaking at a press briefing attended by journalists, partners and members of the creative community, Afolabi-Brown described the moment as one of “transition, purpose, and the courage to evolve”. She confirmed that the new studio and talk show represent a departure from her long-running role as host of YourView, the all-female breakfast programme she anchored for 12 years on TVC Communications.
Introducing herself as an award-winning television presenter with over 20 years of experience, she reflected on her time on YourView, noting its role in shaping national conversations and amplifying women’s voices. She expressed gratitude for that chapter but explained that a shift occurred after more than a decade on the programme.
In August, she said, she made the decision to leave TVC Communications in order to pursue a broader vision. According to her, the move was not driven by dissatisfaction with the platform, but by a growing sense that “the vision had become bigger”. She told the audience she felt drawn to move from “talking at people” to “speaking with people”, describing the decision as a “divine assignment”.
Afolabi-Brown said the newly launched studio is intended to serve as a space for dialogue and shared expression rather than a conventional media facility. She argued that Nigeria does not lack opinions or talent, but lacks spaces where people feel able to speak and be heard. She stated that The Morayo Show was created to respond to that gap.
The programme is designed as a daily live audience talk show that places ordinary people at the centre of conversations. Topics will include society, culture, relationships, family, faith, leadership, business, creativity and national issues discussed through everyday experiences. She stressed that the show is not focused on volume or trends, but on understanding and impact.
The Morayo Show will begin airing on 5 January on YouTube, with syndication on NewsCentral TV, TVC Entertainment and NTA. The studio itself will have a formal launch on Thursday, 18 December, which Afolabi-Brown described as a dedication of both space and mission.
She acknowledged the challenge of starting again after years of visibility, stating that leadership requires obedience to vision rather than comfort. She added that “familiarity must never become a cage”.
In closing, she invited the press to report the journey, hold the platform accountable and share its purpose. She described the launch not as an ending, but as “the expansion of a calling”, and welcomed the audience to The Morayo Show, “where conversations truly come alive”.
