Former UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor has weighed in on the highly anticipated heavyweight clash between Anthony Joshua and YouTuber Jake Paul, calling the fight “very dangerous” and suggesting it should be cancelled.
Anthony Joshua, a former two-time world heavyweight champion, is set to return to the ring against Paul this weekend, December 19th, at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida. The bout marks Joshua’s first fight since his knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois in September 2024.

In a video posted by Fight Club 247, McGregor acknowledged the danger posed by the former heavyweight champion.
“If he makes that walk, you have to give him his respect for that. It’s very dangerous. It seems like Netflix is all over him. It’s a dangerous sport. And you can’t overlook that,” McGregor said.
McGregor, who has previously sat ringside for Joshua’s fights, emphasised the sheer power the Briton possesses.
“Joshua’s a big boy and a powerhouse. That’s a heavy-punching man. He’s a happy guy, and he’s a good guy, but he has anger in him. He has a darkness in him, does Anthony Joshua. I don’t think a lot of people see that.”
“The fight shouldn’t go ahead, in my opinion. But if he does it, I’ll give him his respect for that.”
Despite McGregor’s concern, Anthony Joshua has promised an aggressive performance, telling TMZ Sports, “That’s my intention, to seek and destroy.”
