Digital media expert and convener of Lagos Digital Summit (LDS), Adetona Adewale Akeem, popularly known as Slimfit, has said that the economic transformation that Nigeria is seeking can easily be found when the country is able to maximise the opportunities presented by digital media.
This is as he advised Nigerians to devote more attention to growing the country’s capability to optimise opportunities in the digital media space.
Slimfit avowed that it has become imperative for Nigerians to acquire the necessary digital skills, including emerging ones, as this will go a long way in ensuring that they extract optimum value from the sector.

“I believe that irrespective of anyone’s profession or discipline, digital skills have become requisite capabilities for this age,” he stressed.
He further enumerated some of the skills he considered indispensable and lucrative in this digital age.
“Whoever you are, you will help yourself by endeavouring to learn at least one of these digital skills: mobile app development, data science, website development, search engine optimisation, social media marketing, search engine optimisation, and UI/UX design,” he stated.
Slimfit further added: “You will never go broke if you have the capability in one or two of these digital skills.”
While known famously as a social commentator, Adetona Adewale Akeem is also the convener of Lagos Digital Summit (LDS), an annual convergence of digital experts in Lagos.
Slimfit further advocated that digital skill education should be integrated into the curriculum of primary and secondary school because “these skills hold the key to the advancement of this nation.”
In the same vein, he advised Nigerians to utilised social media as tools of socioeconomic change rather than regarding the various platforms as entertainment tools.
“There are many problems that can be solved with strategic use of social media, especially when certain causes need to be championed and there is a need to change public perception,” he noted.
