NSE loses N0.15trn market capitalization on first day of trading week

Stock market opens new week in green

The All Share Index (ASI) of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) dropped by 2 per cent at the end of trading today. The index which started today at 25,012.08 dropped to 24,581.99. Similarly, market capitalization dropped by -1.72 per cent to close at N8.51 trillion. A total of 2,978 deals valued at N1.4 billion were sealed on the floor of the exchange at the end of trading.

Nestle emerged the highest gainer as the company’s stocks appreciated from N628.42 to N691; a N62.58 gain.  Other notable gainers include Forte Oil, Nigeria Breweries, Guaranty Trust Bank and zenith bank. They gained N2.63, N1.15, N0.2 and N0.15 respectively.

On the other hand, Dangote Cement led the losers with a loss of   N11.29. Other losers includes 7UP, Guinness, Unilever. They recorded N9, N2.15, N1.48, N1.17 losses, respectively.

However, Zenith Bank shares were the most traded in terms of volume. United Bank of Nigeria, Transcorp, UCAP, NEM Insurance were also among the stocks that attracted the most trade.
