Guinness, StanbicIBTC, Zenith Bank shares lead capital market to 0.07% gain

At the close of trading on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) today, the All Share Index (ASI) closed at 25,301.23, representing a 0.07% rise compared to 25,284.56 at which it closed yesterday.

The index was buoyed by gains of heavy weights including Guinness Nigeria Plc, Unilever Nigeria Plc, StanbicIBTC Bank Plc and Zenith Bank Plc. Guinness Nigeria Plc shares appreciated by N2 to close at N70.

Unilever Nigeria Plc shares gained N1.6 to close at N33.90. Similarly, StanbicIBTC Bank Plc and Zenith Bank Plc gained N0.5 and N0.39 respectively.

On the other hand, Nestle led the pack of losers as its shares shed N4.99 to close at N730. Forte Oil Nigeria Plc closed lower at  N47.81, as it shed N2.19 off its opening price. Other losers include Seplat Nigeria Plc, ASHAKACEM and Nigeria Breweries Nigeria Plc.

A total of 238 million shares valued at N2.163 billion were traded in 3,196 deals. Market capitalization closed the day at N756.276 billion.
