The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) has challenged the newly inducted dealing clerks on the need to stand tall on integrity, be spotless in character, be professional in service, and remain high in ethics and standards.
Oscar Onyema, CEO, Nigerian Stock Exchange who said this at the induction of new dealing clerks noted that they were chosen because both the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS) and the NSE considered them worthy to be practicing stockbrokers and able to trade on any floor in the Nigerian capital market.

“It is no longer news that we are maintaining and will continue to maintain zero tolerance for frivolous practices and by deploying requisite technology and expertise, we will curb and arrest any form of manipulation from all quarters of our operation,” the NSE CEO said.
He said: “ For all recently qualified stockbrokers, it goes without saying that the investing community will know and judge the Nigerian capital market through your example in character and service; the manner in which you engage, interface, and service your clients will go a long way in shaping the perception of our market.”
“Full membership in the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE) has placed greater emphasis on oversight in our market. Both at the Exchange level (as a self-regulatory organization (SRO) and at the government level, by propelling us to meet the highest standards set by other Exchanges around the world,” Onyema added.
It was learnt that out of the 62 candidates who had already passed the CIS examination and went through the 15 days of practical ATS training at the Exchange, only 51 candidates passed the oral examination at the NSE.
