Anani takes charge at PTML Command

Joe Anani has assumed duty as the new Customs Area Controller of the Ports Terminal Multiservices Limited (PTML) Command, following recent deployments approved by Bashir Adeniyi, the comptroller-general of Customs.

Anani took over from assistant comptroller-general Tenny Daniyan, pledging to sustain the command’s reputation as a model port.

He praised the rollout of the controversial Unified Customs Management System, B’Odogwu, and its role in revenue collection and trade facilitation, describing it as a milestone to be further improved upon.

In his inaugural remarks, Anani emphasised compliance as the foundation of efficient port operations, noting that PTML already holds a record of two-hour cargo release time for compliant roll-on/roll-off consignments.

“With improved compliance and efficient systems, we can do less than two hours,” he said. “Compliance minimises bottlenecks and enhances efficiency in global trade, and PTML cannot be an exception.”

Anani urged officers, sister agencies and private sector stakeholders to remain committed to lawful practices. He also assured stakeholders of open communication.

“My office is without a door. I shall be accessible to all physically and virtually in the quest to improve on our duties. Feel free to interact with me and avail me all relevant information needed for success on this assignment,” he said.

Anani called for collective support from officers, government agencies, port users and the press, stressing that the command’s drive to remain a port of excellence must be a shared responsibility.
