The death toll in the aftermath of an attack on the Westminster Bridge near the British parliament has risen to five, including the attacker.
In the attack, a man drove a car into people on Westminster Bridge near the British parliament, before stabbing a police officer.
The attacker, identified by police as Khalid Masood, was shot and died at the scene and the Islamic State group has come out to claim responsibility for the attack.
At least 40 others were injured in the attack – four of whom are in a critical condition.
Thousands gathered in Trafalgar Square in central London on Thursday evening, where the mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, and the home secretary, Amber Rudd, said the capital would not be defeated.
The police are currently investigating the life of the attacker Khalid Masood and eight people have been arrested with links to terrorist activities in the capital.
