Premier League champions Liverpool have completed the signing of Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez for £40 million, pushing their total summer spending to over £200 million.
The 21-year-old Hungarian left-back becomes the latest addition to Arne Slot’s squad in what is shaping up to be a statement window by the Reds.

His arrival follows the high-profile £145.5 million double swoop for Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen, as well as the signings of goalkeepers Giorgi Mamardashvili and Armin Pecsi.
A key addition for the Reds
Kerkez enjoyed a breakthrough 2024/25 season with Bournemouth, where he started all 38 Premier League games, contributing six assists and two goals. His dynamic displays down the left flank quickly made him one of the standout full-backs in Europe.
Liverpool view Kerkez as a long-term replacement for Andy Robertson, who turns 31 this year and is currently in talks over a potential exit.
The Reds were eager to secure a younger, high-energy option in the position, and Kerkez fit the profile perfectly.
Family’s loyalty to Liverpool and Hughes
Speaking earlier this month, Kerkez’s father, Sebastijan, revealed their unwavering commitment to Liverpool, citing the family’s close relationship with Reds sporting director Richard Hughes, who had originally brought Milos to Bournemouth from AZ Alkmaar in 2023.
“It’s only Liverpool for us. We’re not going anywhere else, and we won’t talk to other clubs,” said Sebastijan Kerkez.
“If Richard Hughes said we go to India, we go to India. Everything is agreed, just some small details left.”
Kerkez joined Bournemouth last summer for £15.5m and made 67 appearances in all competitions across two seasons.
Liverpool’s big-money investment, particularly the £116 million capture of Florian Wirtz, signals their intent to dominate under their new managerial regime and retain the Premier League title in 2025/26.
