Newcastle, meanwhile, slipped to sixth place, three points off the top four.

In the 11th minute, Luis Díaz set up Szoboszlai, whose shot found the net despite a weak save attempt from Newcastle goalkeeper Nick Pope.
Mac Allister Seals Victory as Liverpool March On
The two sides will meet again in the League Cup final, and despite the loss, Newcastle showed glimpses of promise—particularly when Callum Wilson missed a golden chance to equalize.
Szoboszlai came close to doubling his tally with a curling effort, but it was Mac Allister who made it 2-0 in the 61st minute, finishing off a Mohamed Salah assist.
Despite his eight-game scoring streak ending, Salah was instrumental in creating the goal, drawing in defenders before laying off the pass.
Liverpool comfortably controlled the remainder of the match, with Virgil van Dijk seeing a goal ruled out for a foul.
As the final whistle approached, Anfield erupted in chants of “We’re going to win the league,” reflecting the growing belief that Liverpool’s title charge is unstoppable.
