Planet Talk says it is now going across different markets to reach more global migrant communities as part of its projections into the future. This decision follows its product launch in Canada and France last April.

Planet Talk is a UK-based entity that provides technology-driven support services for migrant communities in the UK and other countries of the world and their families back home. The company has been operating successfully in the UK since the 1990s.

The company provides support for underserved immigrant communities within their host countries, specifically addressing their unique needs that are often overlooked by the host nation. This includes providing services and solutions that go beyond traditional cash remittances, offering tangible support that empowers families and strengthens their connections to their home countries.

Besides remittances, the firm has become the go-to solution for ensuring that support flows effortlessly across borders, transforming how families experience care and connection.

Planet Talk stands out as an all-in-one platform, offering affordable international calls, instant mobile top-ups, direct utility bill payments, and e-vouchers for groceries, transportation, and shopping at trusted outlets like Shoprite, Spar, Jumia, Uber, and Bolt.

These services address the unspoken yet pressing needs of families, making it easier for migrants to provide tangible support that uplifts and sustains their loved ones.

“From a humble beginning some two decades ago, offering low-cost international calling services, Planet Talk has evolved into an enabling platform helping the migrant communities in the UK connect and support their loved ones back home,” Temitope Ayedun, managing director of the firm, said.

Ayedun told our reporter in an interview in Lagos that they will be spending 80 percent of their time trying to reach that global migrant community, noting that they have served tens of thousands of them in the UK, especially in the last six years when they introduced their mobile app.

“The migrant communities outside Nigeria are our main customers. Our services are focused on them because they are underserved in their host countries. This is because the host countries don’t take into consideration their needs back home,” he explained.

He said they were embarking on market expansion that would take them into different territories where the migrants are in large number, noting, “nearly 30 percent of the German population is migrants while 23 percent of the Canadian population is migrants.”

He added that 16 percent of the UK population is migrants which is so huge that it represents the market they want to serve. “Again, I like to emphasize that these are the people we want to empower because we understand their daily struggle, their needs and all that,” he said.

Ayedun said they will not be importing Nigerian food into the UK in a bid to serve the migrant community because that is not a complementary product to what they have done from calling to sending air time to doing voucher and digital products.

“There are things we need in that country that are not there for people to enjoy, but no host country thinks about your need from the perspective of where you are coming from; so, we are underserved migrants in the UK,” he stressed.

He disclosed that their mission is simple—”to bring convenience and care to families, ensuring that every act of support carries both meaning and ease.”

The company’s Mobile App which it launched in the UK, not quite long ago, has helped a good number of individuals and families in that country and beyond, such that many of them have commended the initiative.

Margaret Adesanya, a UK- based nurse, described her experience with Planet Talk as superb, saying, “having used the Planet Talk mobile app for some years now, calling my family and sending airtime to them; I am really impressed with the new electricity payment now available.

I have used it to buy electricity credit for my people and I just sent them the PIN to load. This is both stress-free and impactful,” she said.
