Binos Dauda Yoroe, senator representing Adamawa South and chairman of the Senate Committee on States and Local Government Affairs, has facilitated the provision of essential medical equipment to two primary health centres in Kojoli and Fufore, located in Jada and Fufore Local Government Areas of Adamawa State.
The intervention, carried out in partnership with the Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA), is aimed at improving healthcare delivery in rural areas and aligns with Senator Yaroe’s commitment to addressing the pressing health needs of underserved communities.
Speaking during the handover ceremony at the Kojoli Primary Health Centre, Yaroe explained that the initiative was prompted by the dire situation in many border communities, where residents often crossed into neighbouring Cameroon in search of medical care an act that posed significant risks and health hazards.
He noted that while the affected communities had basic health infrastructure in place, the lack of critical medical equipment hindered service delivery.
“We have good structures in these communities, but without equipment, the health centres cannot serve their purpose. That is why we decided to provide items such as hospital beds, surgical instruments, and other essential tools to upgrade these facilities,” he said.
George Kelly, executive secretary of BCDA, who was represented by Roselyn Abuh Director of Special Duties, Health, Education and Social Services, emphasized that the intervention aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
She said that the agency remained committed to ensuring that no part of the country, especially border communities, was left out of national development efforts.
Community leaders and health workers in both locations expressed gratitude to the senator and BCDA, noting that the equipment will significantly enhance healthcare delivery and save lives.
