Whether it is a small bedroom or a large living room area, setting the right tone for that softness expected from a curtain or a room blind can end up being a complicated task for most homeowners, not necessarily because of cost but deciding which suits best for a particular space in a home.

Just like paints, the right curtain or blind can create the right spark in any lounge, living or bedroom, if rightly used.

Overtime, curtain have remained the preferred option for most part of the home especially the living rooms as most people remain determined to create a theme with their flooring, Sofa’s and curtain thereby making the entire home very attractive and able to reflect their desired style. However, with modern blinds offering choice design and flexibility, both are currently considered fantastic choices with their versatile offering,  functionality, control over light, privacy and even energy saving capabilities.

One of the most prominent blinds is the traditional wooden blinds. Not only does it look great but also suit all kinds of decor and can also be paired with light curtains. However, it can be most suited for low-moisture areas such as a living area or a bedroom but certainly not a bathroom because the wood often warps.

The plantation shutters which is known to promote the free flow of air through a structure in a warmth climate is also similar to the wooden blinds, though it tends to last longer. Though slightly expensive, its known to add more value to a home.

For energy conscious homeowners, the Honeycomb shades is the best option, with its ability to offer up to 99 percent Ultra violent protection, this means it can actually cut energy bills and offer a serene feel. However, it could be quite difficult to maintain and its really not adjustable as its either fully open or closed but it remains the best option for windows that get bright light.

The most commonly used blind is the Roman shade, not just because its more like a combination of a blind and a curtain which means it comes in several astonishing designs but its ability for easy maintenance is also added advantage. For instance it can be easily removed and washed like a curtain but its never suits a room with high-moisture like the bathroom.

While curtains remain the best option in providing the a wide range of styles and fabrics to choose from, modern blinds are also competing well with their unparalleled ambience, cozy feel wherever they are used. Interestingly, for bigger living areas, a motorised blind simply provides the magic of allowing you adjust the amount of light and privacy you desire into the area from the comfort of your seat-certainly an edge over a curtain.

A good kitchen’s window dressing is not only essential but effective ventilation is equally important. Venetian blinds are always a better option for a kitchen area for a series of reasons both for its easier cleaning and maintenance options. Equally, while a Timber venetian blind adds natural warmth to a kitchen, Aluminium venetian blinds with its streamline appearance have the ability to match almost any existing décor.

Bedrooms are evolving and evidently tastes are changing from curtains to modern blinds which also adds depth and height to smaller rooms. Mounting a Roman blind few inches below a ceiling makes the ceiling feel taller and the room brighter. This is also a perfect option for living areas and lounge that also need the illusion that the space is actually bigger.

Also, the roman blind provides a great alternative for bathrooms where curtains are hardly used. They produce the luxurious drapes similar to curtains available in both classic timber planks and a selection of fabrics which compromises a blind and a curtain.
