In a recent Instagram video, Obinna Okerekeocha shared his insights on the transformative role of AI in filmmaking. He emphasised that disruption of AI is happening in filmmaking and AI should not be seen merely as a tool but as a collaborator that enhances creativity and storytelling, using the House of David film on Prime Video as an example. Okerekeocha said, “A lot is happening, and as creators we should find a way to immerse ourselves with what is happening.”
Okerekeocha is looking forward to using this platform to build a community of Artificial Intelligence filmmakers pushing boundaries in Nigerian filmmaking.
Okerekeocha envisions the Naija Artificial Intelligence Film Festival (NAIFF) featuring several key components. These include Trainings and Masterclasses, offering practical sessions and discussions with accomplished AI filmmakers from around the world, Exclusive Screenings showcasing AI-assisted films such as features, shorts, documentaries, animations, and visual effects, and a Community Hub, which will serve as a collaborative space for AI filmmakers, tech pioneers, and curious creatives to connect, share ideas, and innovate.
