“Gold” is an amazing, brilliant, beautiful, and fantastic movie I must say. At the beginning it felt like I wasn’t going to enjoy this movie, but at the end, I almost gave a standing ovation. The volume was quite low so you needed to listen in properly to get a proper hang of the movie. “Gold” is about passion, trust, choosing the right business partner, tenacity, consistency and never giving up.
I learnt a lot about business from the movie. In life when you are doing well, you have so many friends, associates, strategic partners and fans, but when you fail only your true friends and family stand by you. I would totally recommend this movie especially for people who want to start a business.
The movie started on a very slow pace but the 2hrs didn’t seem long anymore by the time we got midway. The movie featured stars like Matthew McConaughey, Edgar Ramirez, Bryce Dallas Howard and was directed by Stephen Gahan. It was an adventure, thriller, drama movie and it was really good.
“Gold” as it was titled was about a prospector called Kenny Wells who was trained by his father. Somewhere along the line, he lost all his wealth and became poor. He relied on his wife, who was actually a very inspiring and encouraging woman. One day he had a dream or would I say a vision? In that dream, a jungle located in Indonesia was revealed to him and he had found a lot of gold. So, he woke up the next day, sold his remaining belongings and his wife’s gold wristwatch. With all the funds he could gather, he headed out to Indonesia.
There he met an acquaintance who actually confirmed that there was gold in the land but no funds to mine it. Eventually, they found some gold and went back to New York to find some investors. He became so rich and forgot his wife. Well the money didn’t last long as his wife had prophesied when he treated her badly. Not long after, he was back on the streets again. After getting arrested by the FBI for mismanagement of funds, he discovered that his trusted partner had also defrauded him, leaving him with nothing. You need to watch this movie to see what happened at the very end as that is the best part.
To my verdict I would say that this movie deserves an 8/10 for the lovely storyline, the twist, the cast, location, production, and the fantastic ending. They really did a good job in carrying everyone along creatively. The actors to me were also a perfect fit for their roles. Yes, it requires some patience to understand the storyline, but the lessons to be learned are priceless.
