Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki, on Tuesday, says the order of interim injunction restraining him from contesting the primary election of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), is an attempt by a group of persons hell-bent to destroy the party.

The Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers state, had on Monday, granted an order of interim injunction restraining Godwin Obaseki, governor of Edo from participating in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary.

The suit was instituted by Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, National Assembly member, representing Oredo Federal Constituency and governorship aspirant on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Responding to the order, Crusoe Osagie, Special Adviser to the governor on media and communication, said the opponents of PDP are apprehensive about the
growing popularity and support base of the governor since he joined the party from the All Progressives Congress.

Osagie, who appealed to the people of Edo state and his teeming supporters to remain calm, noted that the governor’s legal team are already in court to vacate the restraining order.

According to him, the court order was obtained last night. Our opponents outside the party are trying to use fifth columnists within the party to replicate the chaos in APC.

“They are worried about the popularity and acceptance of the PDP and our amiable Governor within and outside the state so much so that they have become desperate in their quest to stop a contest they know they will lose”,he said.
