Jobberman Nigeria, in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, convened HR professionals, business leaders, and recruiters last week in Lagos for the latest edition of HR Fusion.
HR Fusion is a networking and knowledge-sharing event that is held periodically, with the theme for the most recent edition being “Effective Talent Management for Business Growth.”
Held on July 18, the evening event brought together players from across Nigeria’s HR ecosystem for a series of discussions, breakout sessions, and service presentations aimed at tackling the country’s evolving workforce demands. The gathering reflected growing concerns about how organisations attract, develop, and retain talent in a fast-changing economy.
Delivering the keynote address, Yemi Faseun, Chief Talent Officer at YF Talent Partners, offered a critical take on the disjointed responsibilities within HR functions in many organisations.
“When I ask who’s responsible for attracting talent, you hear things like: the line manager, the finance team, even outsourced HR staff. This fragmentation is a problem,” Faseun said. “We don’t have staff that can do this, and we don’t know what to do with it. Our job is to work with organisations, build capacity, and make sure their people can support themselves. That’s the mandate.”
Breakout sessions explored pressing topics such as employee engagement, retention-driven culture, inclusive workplace policies, and the need for continuous upskilling and reskilling. These sessions provided a forum for HR professionals to share insights and solutions across industries.

During the event, Jobberman’s Head of Commercial and Sales, Ruona Oruovo, introduced the company’s evolving suite of talent solutions. She emphasised Jobberman’s capacity to serve businesses across Nigeria, with a mix of digital, hybrid, and offline recruitment products.
“The talent pool is fluid right now, it takes more than just a company’s value to retain talent,” Oruovo noted. “We understand the peculiar needs of today’s labour market, and that’s why we’re constantly evolving to stay ahead.”
She highlighted Jobberman’s digital tools, including free job listings, an applicant tracking system (ATS), and assessment solutions that allow employers to evaluate candidate competencies online. These assessments are secured with browser monitoring and generate detailed performance reports.
Oruovo also introduced Jobberman’s hybrid and executive recruitment offerings, which pair clients with dedicated recruitment professionals capable of filling senior, technical, and hard-to-find roles within five to seven working days. She explained that Jobberman’s team is equipped to deliver both local and international placements, based on job complexity and required experience levels.
“We’re not just a recruitment company; we are HR specialists,” she added. “Whether you’re a small business or a large corporation, our goal is to be your trusted partner for workforce solutions across Nigeria, and beyond.”
Other services showcased included corporate training programs, HR outsourcing, graduate onboarding, and Jobberman’s 14 Job Centres now active in six Nigerian states, designed to connect employers with young, trained, and ready-to-work candidates.
Speaking on the rationale for the event, Samantha Ifezulike, Head of HR at Jobberman Nigeria, said:
“This platform is about translating big ideas into action. Through our partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, we’re committed to promoting sustainable HR practices while also enabling access to services that help businesses build future-ready teams.”
The event forms part of Jobberman’s broader mission to improve employment outcomes, particularly for youth, women, and persons with disabilities. By positioning itself as a leading talent development partner, the company is seeking to reshape how Nigerian businesses approach workforce planning and organisational development.
HR Fusion will continue to tour key Nigerian cities, creating more opportunities for collaboration among stakeholders in the employment and skills development ecosystem.
