IPOB: Court to decide review of secret trial on April 25
Justice Binta Nyako of a Federal High Court Abuja will on April 25, deliver ruling in an application seeking for the review of an earlier order of the court granting witness protection against leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
At the resumption of trial, counsel representing Kanu, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, moved its application to review the order, seeking for witnesses to be allowed to testify openly without being screened.
“We urge your lord to set aside the ruling of 13th December 2016 and allow the witnesses to testify openly,” he had prayed.
Objecting to the application, Shuaibu Labaran asked the court to refuse the application on the grounds that if the trial court gave a counter order now, “you will be making inclusion into her discretion.”
It would be recalled that Justice Nyako had emphatically told the parties that she would not rescind on her earlier order.
Justice Nyako insistently told parties involved that she was not ready to jeopardise protection of the security operatives. Ruling on review of the order and bail has been adjourned to April 25, 2017.
